Membayangkan masa depan, khususnya dunia internet, terbayang dimasa depan semua device, alat, komponent mestinya akan bisa terhubung ke internet, internet enabled. Jadi semua alat2 kita bisa kita kendalikan atau control, atau kita monitor melalui internet.
Nanti semua TV, radio, mesin cuci, kulkas, mobil, etc bisa internet enabled, artinya bisa untuk akses internet sekaligus bisa dimonitor dan dikontrol lewat internet.
Hal2 yang dijaman sekarang mungkin tidak mungkin, bisa menjadi mungkin dimasa depan. Sekarang kita bisa memonitor alat2 kita yang ada diseantero dunia dari rumah atau kamar kecil kita. Istilahnya orang ngremote. Kita bisa memonitor kondisi, dan mengambil tindakan yang perlu setelah melihat data2 yang online. Tidak perlu kita datang ke site yang mungkin ada di kutub, atau dibalik dunia yang lain. Cukup punya kompu dan koneksi internet, beres sudah. Jangan heran suatu saat kita bisa masak dari kantor. Kita bisa nyuci dari kantor, atau dari mobil kita.
Kondisi rumah kita bisa kita tampilkan dilayar komputer kita, dan bahkan bisa kita program.
Internet-enabled : Facility that allows desktop applications to exchange information directly across the Internet. The most common Internet facility to build in is e-mail. Also popular is integrated Web access, so that a user can click on a URL (uniform resource locator) from inside an application such as a word processor or personal information manager and be taken directly to that page on the World Wide Web.
